English will help students develop the key skills necessary to be good communicators and valued members of the workforce. The topics covered in this course include reading and comprehension, building a substantial vocabulary, using grammatically correct English, and speaking and writing the language that is necessary for success in the workplace. This course is designed to help all levels of students— from those with language skill deficiencies or English as a second language to professionals and businesspeople.
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the basic elements of communication, developing communication skills, and communication as a field of study.
- Demonstrate an understanding of language and writing skills.
- Describe best practices in communicating in a business environment.
- Examine best practices in communicating about employment.
- Demonstrate proficiency with academic writing related to the study of English.

All of our programs are self-paced. This means you can complete your coursework as quickly or as slowly as your schedule permits as long as you complete one course every six months to remain an active student in good standing.
This course is structured into four units and a final exam. Each unit has a required essay and an open book multiple-choice exam.
