EDU 647 Educational Standards and Accountability

Educational Standards and Accountability is designed to provide a comprehensive analysis of the accountability movement, its dimensions and its implications. It is designed to facilitate leadership in the promotion of educational accountability and in the development of further research and scholarship in the accountability movement.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Survey the educational reform movement since the 1980’s.
- Examine the characteristics of the educational accountability movement.
- Discuss the changes which have occurred over the past thirty years, with respect to local, state, and federal control over education.
- Analyze the growth of standardized testing and its role in educational reform.
