Strategic Compensation examines the importance of employees as a key element of strategic compensation programs. More specifically, the course explores how human resource professionals, along with other business professionals, design strategic compensation programs to promote companies' success in competitive markets.
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Define strategic compensation, and examine the role of compensation as a strategic business partner.
- Describe how companies can design compensation systems, and explain between the different bases for pay.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the different types of employee benefits including discretionary and legally required benefits.
- Discuss the contemporary strategic compensation challenges.
- Examine compensation issues on a global scale.
- Demonstrate proficiency with academic writing related to strategic compensation.

All of our programs are self-paced. This means you can complete your coursework as quickly or as slowly as your schedule permits as long as you complete one course every six months to remain an active student in good standing.
This course is structured into four units and a final exam. Each unit has a required essay and an open book multiple-choice exam.
