Educational Accountability, Governance, and Reform is designed to provide a comprehensive analysis of the accountability movement, its dimensions and its implications. It is designed to facilitate leadership in the promotion of educational accountability and in the development of further research and scholarship in the accountability movement.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Describe the evolution of educational accountability and discuss the educational reform movement since the 1980s.
  • Analyze the process of assessing performance accountability and measurement in education.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the early roots of education governance in the United States.
  • Examine the implications for working toward sustainable and equitable education reform.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with academic writing related to educational standards and accountability.
