Examination Transfer Credit

CCU accepts many of the CLEP® Subject Exams, DSST, and other exams for undergraduate credit. CCU accepts up to a maximum of ninety-three (93) credit hours through national standardized examinations.

Acceptable Scores and Credit:

The institution the examinee selects for submission of exam scores determines acceptable scores and credit granted for CLEP® and DSST exams. CCU accepts the American Council on Education's "minimum score for awarding credit." CCU will award credit hours for acceptable scores, but no grades will be awarded.

CCU recognizes prior learning by accepting a full range of College Level Examination Program® (CLEP®) exams, which measure mastery of college-level, introductory course content in a wide range of disciplines.

DSST credit:

CCU accepts earned credit from DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) Program. DSST is a nationally recognized testing program that provides students the opportunity to receive college credit for learning acquired outside the traditional college classroom. The program consists of exams in 47 undergraduate college courses.

CCU accepts earned credit from Excelsior College Examinations (ECE). The ECEs were formerly the Regents College Examinations (RCE), College Proficiency Examination Program (CPEP), the Regents External Degree (RED) Program, and ACT/PEP tests outside of New York. The ECEs are available in business, education, health, liberal arts and sciences, and nursing. Examination content outlines and study guides are available at no cost.

CCU accepts earned credit from the Thomas Edison State College Examination Program (TECEP). These examinations, known as TECEP® tests, are specifically designed to permit students to demonstrate the college-level knowledge they have gained through work, personal interests, or independent study by taking a single examination. TECEP® examinations are available in a wide range of business and liberal arts subjects such as psychology, management, English composition, and marketing.

NEW YORK UNIVERSITY - NYU - SCPS Foreign Language Proficiency Exam tests:

CCU accepts earned credit for the New York University (NYU) language exams. The amount of credit depends on your score on the test and the credit recommendation from NYU. Exams are offered in many languages; check the website for the complete list and prices. These tests can be taken at locations outside of New York City, but you must make arrangements to have the test proctored by a college faculty member, administrator, or government official.

CCU accepts earned credit from Advanced Placement (AP) examinations for which a grade of three or better has been achieved. Exams are administered to high school students in over a dozen different college subjects. If you have taken AP examinations, you need to provide official score reports sent from College Board to CCU Office of Admissions.
