California Coast University has been designated as an open national testing center for the College Level Examination Program (CLEP®) and the DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST). CCU accepts many of the CLEP® Subject Exams and DSST Tests for undergraduate credit. All exams may be taken at CCU. CCU has a policy of accepting up to a maximum of ninety-three (93) hours of credit through national standardized examinations.

Testing Days and Times:

The CLEP® exams/DSST tests are administered Monday thru Friday between 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Examinees need to report to the testing site at least 15-30 minutes prior to their scheduled testing time on their scheduled testing date. Examinees are allotted 90 minutes for each CLEP® exam or DSST test. Registration must be done at least one month in advance of a requested appointment time by contacting the Testing Center at CCU.


Registration:

The registration form must be completed and returned, along with the required registration/administration fee, in order for an appointment time to be scheduled. Examinees will receive written verification of their scheduled test appointment. Contact the Testing Center for available testing dates and times. Please note that CLEP® exams/DSST tests will be scheduled based upon time availability and convenience for both the student and the Testing Coordinator. Registration/Administration Fee:

A separate non-transferable, non-refundable registration / administration fee is charged at the rate of $30.00 for each CLEP® exams or DSST tests an examinee is registering. This fee is separate from the charge for the exam and may be paid by certified check or money order made payable to "California Coast University". No personal checks are accepted, unless examinee is a CCU student. Included examinee's driver's license number on the face of the certified check or money order. This fee may also be paid by credit card - MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, or Novus. This fee is paid when the examinee submits their registration form and an appointment time is set for their exam. If the examinee wishes to change a scheduled testing date, another registration / administration fee is charged and written information concerning the new appointment date and time is submitted.


Exam Fee:

The cost for taking an exam is $65.00 per CLEP® exam and $60.00 per DSST test. This fee must be paid separately. An examinee may pay by money order or certified check (made payable to "CLEP" or "The DSST Program", depending on which exam) or by credit card (Visa, Master Card, or American Express). Personal checks are not an acceptable form of payment for the exams. This payment is to be submitted with Registration form.

Items Needed:

Examinees must have 2 forms of identification: primary must be government-issued bring photo identification in order to test in our Testing Center. Examinees will not be allowed to begin testing without proper identification and testing will not be delayed waiting for an examinee to present photo identification. Do not bring food, drink, books, paper, personal items (except identification) or any electronic devices.


Late Examinees and Family/Friends:

Examinees arriving for their test after the testing session has begun will not be allowed to test. Adult visitors are not allowed to wait for an examinee while testing is in progress. If children are brought to the Testing Center and expected to wait while an examinee takes their test the examinee will be refused their testing opportunity on that testing date. If the examinee wishes to reschedule their test to another testing date they will be required to pay the registration/administration fee again.


Acceptable Scores and Credit:

The institution the examinee wishes to submit exams scores determines acceptable scores for CLEP® exams/DSST tests. CCU accepts the American Council on Education's "minimum score for awarding credit." CCU will award credit hours for acceptable scores, but no grades will be awarded.
