EDU 621 Organizational Behavior and Adaptive Leadership

Organizational Behavior and Adaptive Leadership is the study of organizational behavior, how it impacts educational leadership, and how leaders can embrace the challenges of school reform. The course highlights the paradigms of the evolution of educational thought, organizational theory, human capital and decision-making that educational leaders face in a hypercompetitive, global educational environment.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Examine factors, perspectives, and standards inherent in organizational leadership.
  • Evaluate the various historical and contemporary theories of leadership.
  • Examine best practices for motivating people to accomplish organizational goals and for leading organizational change.
  • Analyze issues involving communication, managing conflict, and ethical decision making in organizations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with academic writing related to organizational behavior and adaptive leadership.
