
Can I get transfer credit for classes I have already completed at another school?
Yes, credits previously completed at other accredited colleges or universities that comparably meet CCU course work requirements and standards are acceptable for transfer credit. At the undergraduate level, up to 93 units of equivalent semester credit may be transferred to CCU. At the Master level, 6 units of equivalent semester credit may be transferred to CCU. Doctor of Education students may receive transfer credit for up to two courses of previously completed coursework. Official transcripts are required and all transfer credit decisions are made by the receiving institution. Students have 30 days from the date of enrollment to transfer credit from other institutions. Any credit transferred after 30 days may be awarded but course fees are still applicable, along with a $75.00 re-evaluation fee.
Yes, students may be awarded semester units in the undergraduate degree program only.
Specific training programs, which undergraduate students may have completed through their company, organization, military training experiences, professional or personal licensure requirements, and/or other documented training experiences may be eligible for academic elective credit.
Yes, CCU recognizes prior learning by accepting a full range of College Level Examination Program® (CLEP®) exams, which measure mastery of college-level, introductory course content in a wide range of disciplines. DSST is a nationally recognized testing program that provides students the opportunity to receive college credit for learning acquired outside the traditional college classroom. CCU accepts earned credit from Excelsior College Examinations (ECE). The ECE were formerly the Regents College Examinations (RCE), College Proficiency Examination Program (CPEP), the Regents External Degree (RED) Program, and ACT/PEP tests outside of New York. The ECE are available in business, education, health, liberal arts and sciences, and nursing. Examination content outlines and study guides are available at no cost.

These examinations, known as TECEP® tests, are specifically designed to permit students to demonstrate the college-level knowledge they have gained through work, personal interests, or independent study by taking a single examination. CCU accepts earned credit for the New York University (NYU) language exams. The amount of credit depends on your score on the test and the credit recommendation from NYU. Exams are offered in many languages; check the web site for the complete list and prices. These tests can be taken at locations outside of New York City, but you must make arrangements to have the test proctored by a college faculty member, administrator, or government official.

CCU accepts earned credit from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Advanced Subject Tests. GRE Advanced Subject Tests are examinations offered in eight fields of study. The GRE also offers general aptitude tests, which are not translatable to credit. The GRE Advanced Subject Test is designed to assess learning normally expected in a college major, so depending on your score on an exam, you may be eligible for a certain amount of credit. Subjects include Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Literature in English, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology.
