
Textbooks are available from a number of different sources. A student may obtain a textbook required for one of their courses in his or her local area. All textbooks may be rented from The Alumni Association of California Coast University's Rental Library at a nominal cost. The CCU Alumni Association maintains a library of the textbooks required for the current version of all courses.
Students can purchase textbooks on their own from various online sources. The library maintains a list of recommended websites.
The rental fee is currently $25.00* per textbook for 120 days. A refundable deposit of $50.00* is required for each book rented. When a book is returned in good condition by its due date, the deposit is automatically transferred to the next book order.
Standard UPS shipping is free in the contiguous U.S. Non-contiguous U.S.** students pay for shipping charges.

The easiest way to order books is through the Coast Connection student portal. Please log in at www.calcoast.edu and choose the Rental Library tab.
Important note: The library stocks textbooks for only the current version of each course.
Make sure the ISBN number of the book you receive matches the ISBN number on the cover of your coursework. If it does not match, contact the Testing Department at testing@calcoast.edu.
When renting a book through the student portal, you will be prompted to provide your credit card information. If you are mailing or faxing an order you may pay by check, money order or credit card.
The library limits any one student to rent four books at a time. Please note that you must have a deposit on file for each rental.
You may order another book at any time. A deposit is required for each book you wish to rent.
Book orders are generally processed within two working.
Contiguous U.S. Students: The library uses standard UPS shipping. This method may take up to 10 working days to reach students in the contiguous U.S. There is no charge for this service.
Expedited delivery is also available for students in the contiguous U.S. Any additional costs must be paid in advance by the student. Check with the library for further information about this service.
Non-contiguous U.S. Students: Library books will be shipped at the student's expense via USPS and may take up to 14 business days.

If you need to keep your book longer than the 120 day rental period, you can renew your book online. Book renewals are $25* for an additional 120 days.

It is your responsibility to return your books to us in good condition and within the required time frame. We recommend that you return your books using UPS or Certified Mail so that your shipment is insured and traceable. CCU is not responsible for lost books.
If your book is not returned by the due date, your book deposit is automatically forfeited.
When you will no longer be renting textbooks from the library, you may request a refund of your deposits by mail or by sending an email to the library at library@calcoast.edu. The library will issue a refund within 30 days.
